Agreed Joey, they cost too much when I would probably just use texts and calls.

More bad news on the search for evidence of ET's: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-18288926

Do you guys think intelligent aliens are out there? Will we discover undisputable evidence of them in our life times? My guess would be yes to the first question, and no to the others.  The universe is so big and so old that these intelligent aliens could have died out (or will exist after we have died out) and, or, are too far a way for us to determine that they definately exist.  Shame though, I wouldn't mind if they showed up tomorrow, at least it would be something interesting eh.

Difficult to say. I definitely believe they exist, but will we meet them in our lifetime? Probably not, we haven't achieved warp speed yet. Seriously though, I believe the ones that get seen frequently are all probably of the same race and their here checking on us. I mean we do have a history of being an incredibly violent species and they probably want to make sure we don't take any nukes into space with us or something.

I liked the Goldeneye secrets clip. I didn't know about most of those. I played it last year and didn't notice the Goldeneye video tape in the bunker level.

I've never been to France, but is the weather really that much better? It always seems cloudy whenever I see news reports or documentaries based over there.

Talking of Eclipses, Dis... do you remember the one we had in 1999? I watched it from my garden and thought this is not as epic as hoped, lol. It went slightly dark, much like when a cloud covers the sun  -_-

Those Silence of the Lambs television series could be quite interesting. I was disapointed by the sequels that came out a decade later. Still never seen Manhunt (1986)... I must get round to it one day. Some say it's better than Silence.
When I was a kid, I used to think it was a horror movie about giant moths that fly inside victims mouths.. based on the video cover

If that's true kosmos I hope they give us a warning first lol.

I think the south of France has much better weather than we do Nog, but don't quote me on it.

Yeah I remember the eclipse in 1999, had to wear those glasses to see it.  I wasn't too impressed either, I much more enjoyed the meteor shower we had last year. Did you see it?

Manhunter is a great movie, I would give it equal status to Silence of the Lambs, but definately better than the sequels or prequels.  I used to think Silence was a horror movie too lol, I kept thinking it must be something like the Candyman but with moths instead of bees/wasps (I hadn't seen either of them, only their video covers in the rental store lol).

I went and saw Prometheus tonight. I enjoyed it but there are some plot holes and it left questions unanswered, presumably for future sequels if this one is successful.  It's definately better than those AVP movies. Anyone else see in yet? I know you were looking forward to it Nog.  What do you guys think of it?

Windows 8 preview for anyone who is interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18288710

P.S. I'll check out that vid tomorrow Nog, as I need kip now lol.

Welcome back Dick.  Only 2 weeks left? Is that just for the summer or is your degree course totally finished?

Lol Nog I thought that link you posted yesterday was a vid, but it's a pic lol.  Nice optical illusion :).

Speaking of celestial bodies, the Transit of Venus will be happening on Tuesday night: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-18278591.  Doubt I'll be able to see it as the Sun should have already set by that time here.

Interesting article and comments about the Prometheus movie (only read if you've seen the movie as there are spoilers): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17701436

Since I don't have a smart phone or tablet I won't be taking advantage of this, what about you guys?

Ah damn, that article mention Halo 4. Seriously why won't that franchise just fucking die? I'm sick of the FPS genre as a whole actually because it bred a bunch of asshole gamers who like to think they're military grunts and gun nuts. Its really sickening to meet one of these pale pimple faced bastards and have them use technical combat speak and hear them talking all these weapons when a stiff deck to the jaw looks like it would shatter these idiots whole damn world.

Certain genres of video games have bred an insufferable bastard sub-race of humans. And I hate them.

 kosmos I enjoyed your post, it's good to vent sometimes lol.

I played Halo 1, but none thereafter. I like FPS's but I do think it's unfortunate that mainstream gamers aren't just as interested in other genres :ohdear:

I'll be watching Prometheus next week. I'm still surprised Sir Ridley decided to make the film after his 30 years absence from the genre. If there is a sequel, I think it'll be picked up by another director (preferably not someone like McG!).
He's just not the kind of director who does sequels, but.. you never know.
Somebody on MSN told me he went to watch it with about 10 mates and most of them came out saying they hated it because it didnt have much in common with Alien 1 and those plot holes you previously mentioned. Oh dear, lol. Did you see a "true alien" in the film, Dis? like you hoped there would be.

Yeah, Kosmos... I agree first-person shooters have lost their charm in recent years.
When I played the original Halo, all I could think about from the get go was  "erm, yeah... you watched Aliens about twenty times, didnt you Bungie. I saw it too."   They got away with it due to the fact there wasn't very many sci-fi /space marine first-person shooters on consoles back then. Nowadays, it's commonplace and boring as hell.

I played the MAG demo a few weeks ago with some american dudes, it's a COD rip-off. We lost the round and one of them said "oh, fuck this. I'm done with this fuckin game."  I bet he still plays it daily though.

I didn't see the meteor shower last year Dis... because I don't look out my window often enough  I do believe you linked a video of some captured footage around the time it occured.

I hope James Cameron does the sequel like he sort of hinted he might ....hard to tell if he was being serious though.  I'm hoping most of the plot holes and unanswered questions are purposely there to be addressed in a sequel.

It wasn't like Alien, it didn't have that feel through most of it, but there were moments that harkened back to the classic.  But then this wasn't intended to be a horror movie (it is a little though). It's certainly more of the sci-fi genre, attempting to ask phylisophical questions.  The most fascinating character is the android, played by Michael Fassbender ....this man is a quality actor, who gives a subtle performance in many ways. Personally some of the important questions I was asking at the end were about this character's actions.

Did I see a true Xenomorph? The answer would be almost, but I don't want to elaborate on that too much in case it gives anything away.  The movie is more focused on a different alien that was seen in the original movie.

Lol I think you get a lot of bad tempered people on online games, particularly FPS's, it's funny when they kick off lol. That's why people get involved in griefing, because some people take games way too seriously.  Although I can see how that would be maddening after a while.

Regarding the graffiti pic, I have seen iphone covers that look just like old cassett tapes, my mate had one and I honestly asked him why he was carrying around an old style cassett, then he turned it around and there was some laughter at my expense.  It was a cool cover though.

Sad day lads, Ray Bradbury has died ;( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18345350

Aw, no way. Ray Bradbury was a fuckin sci-fi genius. Fahrenheit 451 remains one of my favorite books to this day and Iron Maidens' "Something Wicked This Way Comes" was based off of his writings as well. Sad, sad day.

Yeah Ray was up there with the likes of Jules Vern.  It's a real shame.  Did you ever watch the Bradbury Theatre?

I know we aren't too happy about the upcoming remake of Robocop, but it's getting a good cast so far including Samuel L. Jackson: http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/true-romance-reunion-samuel-l-jackson-joins-robocop-remake-with-gary-oldman-and-joel-kinnaman-20120606#

I still maintain a remake of this classic is not truely possible because today's film makers will want to tone it down, it will be a very different type of movie.
