Help!
« on: November 24, 2010, 06:19:34 PM »
I soo need your marvelous help forum peeps!

Running Windows XP 64-bit on a Dell Precision and did system updates earlier. One thing that was bizarre was when I launched Opera which had alota tabs open, Java program started to randomly launched. All of a sudden both monitors went black and the main left one had the most bizarre effect I've ever seen. There was a light gray smoke fizzle effect that looked like everything was being dissolved away from the center on out. After that, nothing happened.

Now Windows opt system won't start up, says if it did, the system could be corrupted. Safe Mode, Start In Last Working Config, Safe Mode w/ Networking, etc. doesn't work.

Dunno what to do :'( please help.

More tabs of epic awesomeness than the poor old thing could handle I'm afraid.

Really sounds like the OS has corrupted. Back up all of your files, wipe, and reload.

Worst case scenario: Hardware failure.
The way it went down is really suspicious. My thoughts are that one of the WUD's (that's "Windows Update's") may have failed to install properly. But the reason why that would've gone awry is typically because one or more pieces of hardware are screwy, typically a RAM stick. But in your system's case I'm wondering if it couldn't have been a problem with the VRAM (Video RAM) that caused this since there was some nifty visual effects at the time of the crash.

Very good assumption on system updates! IE8 failed to update and before hand the computer didn't like updating nor installing any new plugins.

I can't find a way to acess any of my files :'( I tried entering the computer through the network lan but nothing. *sigh*
Before Windows starts, it hits that blue screen telling of that error.
Any possible ways you think I could try?

Will run a hardware check to see if anythings screwy and will likely wipe it as is if there's ultimitely no choice.

woowy me :(

Pull the HDD, pop it into an external enclosure, connect it to another PC. That's the simplest way to retrieve your files.

I'm just wondering, if his computer is screwed up, how did he type and post that message?

^He used a different computer to write this down?

Most likely HDD failure, yes. Save whatever you can and start saving money for a new computer.

Technical Info:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (OxFFFFFFADF 5D4 OF 3C0, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

I guess it translates to STOP: 0x0000007B = INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

no $$$ to spend on a new system, but I'll try that nifty hard drive backup trick Tweegs, gracias.
